RESEARCH AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

 The RQI committee focuses on the involvement of the AP in research and quality improvement through mentorship and providing opportunities to present and publish professional projects.

COMMITTEE MEMBER PREREQUISITE(S):

  • Must be an APSHO member in good standing
  • Note: Committee is not currently accepting members

ESTIMATED TIME COMMITMENT AND MEETING FORMAT:

  • Preparation for and participation in 1–6 virtual meetings per year; 1 in-person meeting held during JADPRO Live (conference registration required)

TERM LIMITS:
Research and Quality Improvements Committee Chair

The Research and Quality Improvement Committee Chairperson is appointed for a 2-year term, spending 1 year as the Chair-Elect, and 2 years as Chair before assuming the position of Past Chair.

Research and Quality Improvement Committee members are invited to apply for a Chair position by submitting an online application.

Applications will be reviewed by the Research and Quality Improvement Committee Leadership (current Chairperson and Board Liaison) between May 1–15.

Committee leaders will then present a ballot to the committee members with candidate(s) for the Chair-Elect position for vote by June 1.

  • Year 1: Chair-Elect
  • Year 2: Chairperson
  • Year 3: Chairperson
  • Year 4: Past Chair

The candidate who receives the majority vote will be immediately appointed as Chair-Elect, and the previous Chair-Elect will transition to the Chair position.

The committee may invite an award recipient to participate as 1-year consulting or honorary member for his/her respective award.


RESEARCH AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP:

  • Committee members are appointed for 2 years, but those wishing to remain on the committee may do so for an additional 2-year term, totaling a maximum of 4 consecutive years. Time spent as Chair-Elect, Chair, and Past-Chair is not counted toward the member’s maximum term limit of two (2), consecutive 2-year terms.

RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER LEADERSHIP GROUPS:

  • Reports directly to the Board of Directors

2024  RESEARCH AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE CHARGES:

  • RQI column in each issue of APSHO Advance
  • Develop and provide opportunities and platforms that support AP involvement in Research and Quality Improvement
  • Integrate Research Cooperative into APSHO RQI Committee 
  • Four RQI committee members agree to host Braindates at JADPRO Live 2024
  • Spotlight current mentors in the Mentor Match on APSHO social and community platforms
  • Engage APSHO committees and taskforces to integrate Research and Quality Improvement into broader APSHO initiatives.  For example:
    • A& R Committee: Develop a recommendation to the Board of directors for the feasibility of a RQI poster award for JADPROLive.
    • DEI Committee:
      • Invite them to attend RQI meetings for potential collaboration
      • Present at APSHO RQI Forum
    • Education Committee: 
      • Work with to review research abstracts for new RQI award
      • Possibly creating modules in the future
    • Membership Committee
      • Reach out to ensure the resources developed and offerings by RQI
      • committee is included as a APSHO membership benefit
    • Professional development and Leadership Committee
      • Set up a call to discuss potential collaboration
