PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

The Professional Development and Leadership Committee serves to develop leadership and professional development resources for APSHO members.

  • Write leadership column in APSHO Advance
  • Develop topics for future JADPRO Live conferences
  • Organize resources for APSHO members on topics related to Professional Development & Leadership

COMMITTEE MEMBER PREREQUISITE(S):

  • Must be an APSHO member in good standing
  • Submission of a committee application including:
    • Submission of a curriculum vitae (CV)
    • Submission of a statement of intent
  • Submission of a statement of clinical interest or expertise

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Author leadership column for APSHO Advance
  • Provide feedback to the leadership on educational initiatives as needed
  • Provide input for JADPRO Live annual conference as needed
  • Foster networking and collaboration opportunities among APSHO general membership
  • Develop annual National Oncology Advanced Practitioner Leadership Summit agenda
  • Fulfill additional duties as needed

ESTIMATED TIME COMMITMENT AND MEETING FORMAT:

  • Preparation for and participation in regular meetings
    • Meeting frequency ranging from 4-6 1-hour meetings per year, primarily hosted via Zoom
    • Inclusive of one live meeting at JADPRO Live (conference registration required)

TERM LIMITS:

Professional Development and Leadership Committee Chair
The Committee Chairperson is appointed for a 2-year term, spending 1 year as the Chair-Elect, and 1 year as Chair before assuming the position of Past-Chair.

Professional Development and Leadership Committee members are invited to apply for a Chair position by submitting an online application. Applications will be reviewed by the Professional Development and Leadership Committee Leadership (current Chairperson, Past Chair and Board Liaison) between May 1-15th. Professional Development and Leadership Committee leaders will then present a ballot to the committee members with candidate(s) for the Chair-Elect position for vote by June 1st.

  • Year 1: Chair-Elect
  • Year 2: Chairperson
  • Year 3: Chairperson
  • Year 4: Past Chair

The candidate who receives the majority vote will be immediately appointed as Chair-Elect, and the previous Chair-Elect will transition to the Chair position.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP

Committee members are appointed for 2 years, but those wishing to remain on the committee may do so for an additional 2-year term, totaling a maximum of 4 consecutive years. Time spent as Chair-Elect, Chair, and Past-Chair is not counted toward the member’s maximum term limit of two (2), consecutive 2-year terms.

RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER LEADERSHIP GROUPS:

  • Reports directly to the Board of Directors
  • Collaborates with other APSHO Committees and Task Forces as necessary

2024 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE CHARGE:

  • Leadership column in each issue of APSHO Advance
  •  Develop at least 4 potential topics for JADPRO podcasts that will further committee charges, yearly during first quarter. These topics can mirror other PD&L initiative or can be general leadership topics.
    • Provide topics to APSHO Executive Director by March 29, 2024
    • Committee is not responsible for developing podcast.
  • Utilize group page within APSHO Committees site page for communication and reporting.
  • Develop at least 5 potential topics for JADPRO Live 2025 that will further committee charges.
    • Committee is not responsible for developing the content
      • List topics
    • Provide key points and suggested speakers, if appropriate.
  • Develop Leadership Summit for 2024
    • Appoint sub-committee by March, 2024
    • Submit to APSHO Executive Director by June 30, 2024:
    • Expected date – 11/13/2024
    • Topics of discussion
    • Invitee Suggestions (list probably to be pushed back beyond 6/30)
  • Develop 4 educational opportunities on leadership topics – perhaps for AP Academy
    • Provide key points and suggested speakers
    • Due March 2024 to APSHO Executive Director
  • Assist in FAPO award designation reviews
  • Post 2-4 new discussion posts to the APSHO Community and Facebook group per month (ANY topic)
  • Sponsor 1-4 Braindates at JADPRO Live
