Current Awards and Recognition Committee Members:
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION COMMITTEE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
The APSHO Awards and Recognition Committee develops and supports advanced practice awards and recognition initiatives for the society.
· Planning and execution of the annual Mary Pazdur Award for Excellence in Advanced Practice in Oncology
· Assistance in development and execution of future awards and recognition initiatives for APSHO and APSHO partnerships
COMMITTEE MEMBER PREREQUISITE(S):
- Must be an APSHO member in good standing
- Submission of a committee application including:
- Willing and able to actively contribute to the development of award criteria, and review processes
- Able to attend conferences or other regional events to participate in APSHO activities
- Leadership, professional or program development skills desired
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in the development of new awards or other recognition initiatives/activities for APSHO or APSHO partnerships
- Assist in executing processes for new awards and recognition initiatives
- Assist in review and selection process of award applicants or nominees
- Promote award opportunities through various communication outlets
- Provide feedback and participate in continuous improvement processes of awards and recognition initiatives
ESTIMATED TIME COMMITMENT AND MEETING FORMAT:
- Preparation for and participation in 1–6 conference call meetings per year; 1 in-person meeting held during JADPRO Live (conference registration required)
TERM LIMITS:
Awards and Recognition Committee Chair
The Awards and Recognition Committee Chairperson is appointed for a 2-year term, spending 1 year as the Chair-Elect, and 2 years as Chair before assuming the position of Past Chair.
Awards and Recognition Committee members are invited to apply for a Chair position by submitting an online application.
Applications will be reviewed by the Awards and Recognition Committee Leadership (current Chairperson and Board Liaison) between May 1–15.
Committee leaders will then present a ballot to the committee members with candidate(s) for the Chair-Elect position for vote by June 1.
- Year 1: Chair-Elect
- Year 2: Chairperson
- Year 3: Chairperson
- Year 4: Past Chair
The candidate who receives the majority vote will be immediately appointed as Chair-Elect, and the previous Chair-Elect will transition to the Chair position.
The committee may invite an award recipient to participate as 1-year consulting or honorary member for his/her respective award.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITION COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP:
- Committee members are appointed for 2 years, but those wishing to remain on the committee may do so for an additional 2-year term, totaling a maximum of 4 consecutive years. Time spent as Chair-Elect, Chair, and Past-Chair is not counted toward the member’s maximum term limit of two (2), consecutive 2-year terms.
RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER LEADERSHIP GROUPS:
- Reports directly to the Board of Directors
- Collaborates with the Membership Committee, Education Committee, Communications Committee and other task forces and subcommittees as necessary
2024 AWARDS AND RECOGNITION COMMITTEE CHARGES:
Continue supporting the nomination and selection process for the Mary Pazdur Award for Excellence in Advanced Practice in Oncology.
Execute the APSHO Fellow of Advanced Practice in Oncology (FAPO) designation for 2024
Nominate and select the JADPRO Article of the Year Award
Finalize development of the Mentorship Award
Execute the Kelly Young Memorial Scholarship Award for 2024
Organize all current awards into a single resource for committee reference
Develop an idea list of potential ways members can be recognized outside of receiving an award
