Afton Dickerson holds positions with Oncology Consultants, BrightStar Care, and MD Anderson. She completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, followed
by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. Her graduate education includes a Master of Science in Nursing, specializing as an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, obtained
from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
Afton’s special interests include genetic counseling and testing, cancer prevention, survival and wellness, and providing care for underserved populations.
She also focuses on national and state healthcare policy advocacy. She is actively involved in various professional organizations, serving as the president of the local chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society. She is also a member
of the American Nurses Credentialing Center, American Association of Nurse Practitioner, Texas Nurse Practitioners, and is an American Society of Clinical Oncology volunteer.
