Checklist for Setting Up Telemedicine in Your Practice

  1. Pick a virtual platform

    1. Short-term platforms: non-HIPPA compliant, two-way video and audio

      1. Examples: Doximity, FaceTime, GoToMeeting, Skype, Zoom

    2. Long-term platforms: HIPPA compliant

      1. Examples: Doxy.me, VisuWell, Vsee

  2. Get comfortable using the chosen platform.

  3. Work with the scheduling team to develop a scheduling process that works best for your practice.

  4. Work with your billing office to develop a billing process that works best for your practice.

  5. Develop a template for documentation that ensures consent, the chief complaint, medical decision-making and time for the preparation, and the actual visit are documented clearly.

  6. Educate providers and staff on the entire process for continuity.

  7. Plan a process for post-COVID evaluation.
