2017 JADPRO Regional Lectures Build on Successful Educational Design for APs in Oncology
Thursday, March 23, 2017
Following the success of last year’s series of 20 regional educational meetings, the JADPRO Regional Lectures stay true to the original educational design of high-level, CE-accredited education created especially for oncology advanced practitioners, but with new topics, locations, and opportunities for engagement.
This time, three different day-long courses, each repeated in three different cities for a total of nine days of accredited education will address the areas of interest and importance to nurse practitioners, PAs, PharmDs, and other advanced oncology nurses.
The programs feature thought-leaders in the field of hematologic malignancies, immunotherapy, and genomic testing and genetic counseling in oncology leading didactic modules and interactive case studies.
Sandra Kurtin, PhDc, ANP-C, AOCN®, from the University of Arizona Cancer Center will chair the popular course on hematologic malignancies. Learners will get updates in diagnosis, risk-stratified treatment, and the identification and management of side effects.
The course on immunotherapy will be co-chaired by Laura Zitella, MS, RN, ACNP-BC, AOCN®, from Stanford Health Center, and Brianna Hoffner, MSN, ANP-BC, AOCNP®, from University of Colorado Cancer Center. Ms. Zitella, Ms. Hoffner, and fellow faculty members will address immune-oncology mechanisms of action and the identification and management of side effects in several solid and hematologic malignancies.
Heather Hampel, MS, LGC, of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will lead the course on genomic testing and genetic counseling in oncology. Heather and her team of educators will provide comprehensive sessions on what advanced practitioners need to know to navigate the increasingly complex landscape of genetic testing in the oncology setting.
The convenience and value of the CE-accredited educational and networking opportunities the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO) is known for providing will take place in major US cities, including Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Anaheim, and Los Angeles.
